Wife and MUM 9/2011

Sunday 20 March 2011

We got back from church a while ago. It was raining like dogs and cats just some twenty minutes before we got back. The result was that all the clothes we had hang out to dry was soaking wet. Yes, twenty minutes can mean the difference between clothes dried by the sun or clothes soaked by the rain.  We will have to re-wash the clothes.

Coincidentally, when we got home, Benjamin, our grandson started crying which means it is time to feed him. So while Irene was attending to her grandson – her daughter left for Singapore to attend to some business and left the baby with us – I collected the wet cloths back in again.

After having fed Benjamin and put him to bed, she washed some towels and went to hang them out in the sun. Yes, the rain had stopped and Mr. Sunny Sun came on back again. After hanging the towels, she took a pail from the bath room , filled it with water and started washing the backyard.

It is a wonder to me as to the reason for washing the yard. She should be having a cup of coffee and enjoying the bread on the table. After all she has not had lunch and it is now 3pm in the afternoon.
Anyway, when she had finished washing the backyard, she said “The cats did it again. They fought in the night.”
WOW!, how did she knows the cat fought last night? I distinctly remembered she did not leave the bedroom except for a short duration when she had to prepare milk for her grandson at around 4.30am. Were the cats fighting then?
No, that’s not how she knew the cats were fighting.
The cats left traces of dried urine on the floor.
I did not notice any traces and signs of dried urine. How is that Irene noticed while I don't?

Yes, noticing small details is the secret for her ability to keep the house clean, fresh and looking good after 30 years. She is outstanding and extraordinary in that she tackled all her tasks by paying attention to the smallest of details. While many scan over things and tasks, Irene inspects most things she buy with care and does her work with diligence giving importance to what she does realizing the consequence it might brings as against considering the things she do her  as trivial, unimportant or inconsequential.

I would consider her a person who is successful. Just like most successful people, in many walks of life, she understands the importance of paying attention to details. Irene is naturally committed to excellence and as a result there is very seldom a need for re-work in the things she do.

No 9 attribute of a great wife:  Paying attention to Details in whatever she does.

Ps: Come to think about it as I write this post. Did she paid as detail an attention to details when she married me?
Do you think I should ask her?

Cheers.
See you next week.
